Our mission at Oak City Plate is to eliminate hunger, promote healthy eating habits, and provide nutritional education resources. We, as a nonprofit organization, will work within the community along side of partners and volunteers to help provide the community with fresh produce.
We are currently providing meal kits to families and individuals once a month that include recipes, shelf stable ingredients to make them, fresh produce, and small snacks. Additional meal kits are provided to senior citizens that are shut in their home, homeless camps, and kids snack packs with books or a new pair of socks.
We have partnered with Meredith College Dietitian Program to host a dietetic intern on site to assist shoppers in finding what’s best for their specific health needs. We are offering educational classes including basic nutrition and cooking classes with Netta’s Pantry.
Stay tuned for upcoming scheduled classes for all ages.
